3 Week Tour of Spain - ONLINE
Join us online over three Friday evenings as we take a tour through Spain and taste 6 wines with you in the comfort of your own home.
This interactive wine adventure will take you from the wet and wild west coast to the cosmopolitan city of Barcelona, capital of Catalunya, on Spain’s Mediterranean
Session 1: Green Spain & Castilla y León - White and Red
Green Spain is Spain, but not as you know it. While Spain is known mainly for its red wines with a good dollop of oak, the cooler-climate north-west or ‘Green Spain’ is famous for its tongue tingling white wines prized for their freshness and verve. You'll enjoy tasting an Albariño which captures the spirit of the region.
Next we head inland to the province of Castilla y León, where you find wines from Ribera del Duero, Toro and Rueda to name a few. This is Spain’s largest wine producing region and this evening, we will taste a VDT Castilla y León - showing the experimentalism and creativity of the region’s winemakers.
Session 2: All about Rioja - Rosé and Red Rioja is Spain's fine wine capital, a region characterised by rich tradition and vibrant innovation. There is a wealth of historic producers, many of whom have been making wine for centuries, but recently the region has seen the arrival of a new wave of ultra-modern bodegas that are pushing the boundaries and taking the wines to even greater heights. The region is defined by its classification structure, based on age and ranging from young Joven wines, moving through to Crianza and Reserva, and peaking with the well-aged Gran Reserva.
The region is also known for some fantastic ‘Rosado’ or rosé wines made from the Garnacha grape - and this evening we shall tingle our tastebuds with one of the finest!!
Session 3: East Spain - Cava and Red
As you head East and to the Mediterranean, we will firstly cover the North East - Catalunya, and talk about that much loved Traditional method Sparkling that is Cava. Then, head South to discover the wonderful DOs of Valencia and Murcia - and discover the wonders of Monastrell - It may not have the kudos of Tempranillo, but it can offer far better value for money.
