Celebrate World Malbec Day - ONLINE
World Malbec Day or Malbec World Day is celebrated on April 17, to commemorate the day when president Domingo Faustino Sarmiento of Argentina officially made it his mission to transform Argentina's wine industry. On that day, back in 1853, he tasked Michel Aimé Pouget, a French soil expert, to bring over new vines. Amongst his selection, was Malbec.
Every year on this date Malbec lovers around the world celebrate the deliciously deep and chocolatey wines made by this superb grape.
However, its ancestral home is France and whilst it is still a minor variety permitted in the Bordeaux blend, the standout place to sample a French Malbec is from Cahors, in the South West.
Join us as we compare and contrast an Argentinian Malbec with a French Cahors.
The two styles are quite different and reflect both the difference in “terroir” and also the different winemaking approach selected by the winemakers.
All you have to do is purchase a ticket from the Belfast Wine School website by clicking the "BOOK" button below, as you would normally. A ticket entitles ALL members of your household to join in. There is no need to buy one ticket per person. Once your ticket purchased, you will receive a confirmation email with your ZOOM web link and password up to 1 day before the event itself.
Then - you need to purchase a bottle of the following..
French 'Cahors' (Malbec)
Argentinian Malbec - preferably from Mendoza
Both of these are widely available from any independent wine merchant or supermarket.
At these online classes we will be creating a shared tasting experience and educating in our typical fun way with plenty of opportunity to ask questions.
You and your friends or family members can join the meeting from a PC, laptop or any mobile device.
