Celebrate World Malbec Day
World Malbec Day or Malbec World Day is celebrated on April 17, to commemorate the day when president Domingo Faustino Sarmiento of Argentina officially made it his mission to transform Argentina's wine industry. On that day, back in 1853, he tasked Michel Aimé Pouget, a French soil expert, to bring over new vines. Amongst his selection, was Malbec.
Every year on this date Malbec lovers around the world celebrate the deliciously deep and chocolatey wines made by this superb grape.
Join us on a Malbec Journey to enjoy some superb examples from Argentina: packed with blackberry fruit and a twist of peppery spice, we're sure you'll agree it's a modern classic. As well as beautiful examples from Mendoza, packed with spicey, chocolatey flavours, we'll be trying some from the high altitudes of Salta.
And a definite stop on the road will be in South West France, where the town of Cahors has long been recognised locally as the original home of Malbec. If you are an Argentinian Malbec fan who has never tried an example from Cahors, we are sure you won't want to miss this opportunity!
6 Malbecs to be tasted.
