Alternatives to Sauvignon Blanc

Alternatives to Sauvignon Blanc

For many, the Sauvignon Blanc grape is the epitome of summer in a glass. It’s fresh, flavoursome and deliciously refreshing. No wonder it's a big hit at parties.

However, maybe it's getting a bit too familiar and you are now ready to branch out to the wonderful alternatives that will bring as much joy and satisfaction as that regular glass of Villa Maria.

As we prepare to spring into summer, we explore other wines that will tickle your fancy if you like Sauvignon blanc.

Now, I’m not knocking Sauvignon Blanc, from New Zealand or anywhere else. However, by visiting both the Old world and New world, we will unlock a whole new world of wine and provide you with options to help make that leap into the unknown.

We will venture to Spain, to the beautiful cool and wet Galicia to try an Albarino - fresh, acidic and full of flavour.

Picpoul de Pinet has become a little trendy of late, picking up fans of dry, fresh, crisp whites with classic citrus flavours mingling with more exotic fruit flavours.

And, Italy has a wealth alternatives - from Gavi in Piedmont to Vermentino from Sardinia, both offering high acidity and citrus freshness.

And, on top of these will be 3 other alternatives, ensuring that you find something to please your palate and give you confidence when next choosing a wine.
