Event Description
New to the world of wine and eager to expand your knowledge? Or perhaps you're curious about your wine preferences and the reasons behind them?
This compact course aims to boost your confidence when selecting wines at stores and restaurants, as well as when serving them to your loved ones.
The common saying, "I don’t know much about wine…but I know what I like…" is perfectly fine – knowing your preferences is important.
However, you may want to dive deeper into understanding what exactly it is that you enjoy about wine. This course is centred around exploring the world of wine.
Our colleague Simon Woods from Manchester Wine School took the initiative to assist people facing this dilemma by authoring a book on the topic. The book, titled the same, was well-received and even won the Wine Book of the Year award at the Prix Du Champagne Lanson Wine Awards, competing against works by renowned authors like Hugh Johnson and Oz Clarke. We have a copy of the book to distribute to each participant in the course.
Over three sessions, you will find out:
- how to taste wine
- where’s the best place to buy wine
- which countries/regions offer the best (and worst) value
- how to serve and store wine
- how wine is made
- how special those ‘special’ offers really are
- how and why classic food & wine pairings work
- why some wines cost more than others
- what are the best wines to buy for presents
- how to decipher a wine label
- and more
The price for the three sessions of £100 includes samples of a minimum of 18 wines AND a signed copy of the latest edition of Simon’s book “I Don’t Know Much About Wine But I Know What I Like”.
Weekly over 3 weeks on Thursday 11th, 18th and 25th April, if you can't make all three session, you can book them individually at £35 each -
